Hands on Traditional Crafts & Pottery is the exciting
and fascinating place to explore traditional crafts.
Whether you are interested in pottery, wool crafts,
crafts using metal, wood or leather - or even want to
learn more about crafts from sculpture to dry stone
walling - we have something for you or the whole
family to enjoy together. We offer short and weekend
workshops, adult or children’s traditional craft parties,
located at the renowned and Award-Winning Beadlam
Grange Farm, or even in the comfort of your own
home, club, association or school.
Our difference is our philosophy - all of our workshops
and parties, adult or child, explore the real craft, not
just in a classroom, but hands-on!
You can have a go on a potters wheel , make a pot & paint it. You can join a craft class in pottery, felt making, paper making or wool spinning for beginners or advanced there is a craft/ pottery course for everyone!

Wool start to finish Learn the processes From Raw Fleece to spinning wool

If you have, you can bring your own spinning wheel, fleece, or tops. ( if you haven’t got these please see below!)
Wheels can be hired for an extra £2 per session and materials purchased here if notice given.
Learn how to select a fleece for hand spinning. Learn how to wash the fleece and prepare it for hand spinning. Learn carding (you can bring your own carders or carders can be purchased here at Hands On) and how to make rowlags and how to spin from them. Learn how to spin from tops. Practice plying.
